Work in progress

The project involves designing a swimming pool and creating a connected garden to harmonize its insertion into the architectural context of Val d'Orcia in Tuscany (UNESCO World Heritage site).

Complementing the overall intervention is the renovation of a barn as a pool house.

The English clients requested an approach highly respectful of the local characteristics, aiming to minimize the pool's impact and harmonize the external spaces connecting the pool to the main building and the barn to be renovated.

These are some of the design criteria for the works to be executed during the year 2025:

  • Better landscape integration of the pool by positioning it near existing terraces and in the most discreet possible location to allow the creation of a large garden area

  • Increased privacy and visual protection

The pool, measuring 18x4 meters (72 sq m), will be articulated into two zones:

  • A main swimming area

  • A spa/hydromassage zone raised by 40 cm

It will be internally lined with walnut travertine with a simple perimeter edge in the same material. The pool surroundings will be enriched by:

  • Traditional stone walls

  • An extension of existing paving

  • Native vegetation

  • Filter zones with Mediterranean shrubs

  • A rustic wooden pergola
